A QUIET REVOLUTION
is taking place right now in Arvada. This summer Arvada joined the ranks of cities up and down the west coast and across the nation to take a positive step to make affordable housing available to homeowners and new home buyers. ADUs, or Accessory dwelling units, are small homes you can put in your large back yard or attached to your home.

HOW BIG CAN AN ADU BE?
In Arvada it depends on the size of your house and the size of the lot. You can build an ADU that is 40% the size of your primary home up to a maximum of 800 square feet whichever is smaller. There are requirements for setbacks from property lines and between your home and the ADU. if your home is less than 1000 Square feet in size, the maximum ADU size is 400 Square feet. No ADU can be less than 200 square feet.
